When you have already created a mobile app, what can you do to push it to the top of the list in the app stores? How can you read the engagement parameters and adjust your application positioning and design?
App analytics
App analytics is the sequel video of App marketing which explains the basis of application analysis: how to measure app performances and how to identify the useful KPIs for a business.
Once an application is on the market, each developer should do an A/B test and give two versions of the application to the audience, in order to verify which design or interface performs better. Another important step is the on-boarding which a developer proposes to users in order to teach them how to use the core functions of the app.
App Store Optimization
You could have created the best app ever, but if it doesn't show up first in the app store, users will never find and download it. What you need to have is a strong ASO (App Store Optimization), a process that is quite similar to its cousin SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
App Store Optimization must be used with a strategy. It is different from store to store and is very related to the application life cycle. Not all apps need to implement ASO strategies.
ASO is mainly represented by two types of activities you can do: on- and off- pages.
Strong title;
Smart keywords;
General description;
Description of updates;
Visual branding (icons, videos, screenshots…);
Categories.
Engagement metrics
It’s important to monitor the progress of your app during a period of time, verify if it works or not and if you are reaching the objectives you set at the beginning. To succeed, I have selected some engagement metrics you can measure with tools like Mixpanel:
Users;
Daily/weekly users;
Session length;
Sessions carried out;
Time in app;
Store ranking;
Acquisitions;
Downloads amount;
Screen flow;
Funneling;
Retention;
In app purchases volume;
Life-time value.
