How technology helps raise competition in the gym and motivate people to workout: MyZone

Updated: Sep 27, 2018

Sometimes you need something to boost your motivation to workout, that’s why you should try MyZone. I decided to interview Jarrod Curry, a personal trainer at #RetroFitness, to find out more about this #Gym tool and understand how it works.

Introducing MyZone

MyZone is a mobile app that tracks your workout effort and links together all the gym members to promote friendly competition.

Its operational principles are very simple: users just have to wear a heart rate monitor chest-belt, connect it to the MyZone app and start to workout. The MyZone system is also connected to gym screens that shows all active participants that are working out in that moment.

People are ranked upon their personal scores. The more you work hard, the more scores you gain.

Competition leads to results

People are now connected in a big ecosystem where they can compare and keep records of their results. In this way, it starts a positive competition loop among gym members which raises accountability and fun levels.

Going to the gym is no more a personal and boring experience, but it becomes an opportunity to challenge yourself and play with other people that share your same passions and goals.

In brief, MyZone represents an effective technology to create gamification in the gyms. But where does its effectiveness come from? Its secret key point is the simplicity. People love MyZone because it’s simple to use, they understand it and can reach results faster than other similar tools.
